Fraps allows you to record the video game you are playing along with the game sound and an optional external sound input (e.g. microphone). You can also take screenshots and benchmark your FPS and frame times, which are displayed in a corner of the display. The video or still captures can be conveniently started and stopped via keyboard hotkeys at any time and there are no dialogs to interfere with your gaming experience. Fraps is able to capture good quality video, however, they are saved in uncompressed AVI format and can quickly fill up your hard drive. Unfortunately the program does not include any tools or options to convert your captures to a more efficient format suitable for online sharing.
