As expected, Microsoft has made available for download the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems. Just a few days back, we reported about the possibility of the official SP1 RC release on 26th, October.
As previously announced, the only new features added to the SP1 are the Windows Server 2008 R2-related virtualization technologies, Dynamic Memory and RemoteFX . SP1 includes both a roll-up of operating system updates and several new capabilities for Windows Server.
According to Technet, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 RC helps keep your PCs and servers on the latest support level, provides ongoing improvements to the Windows Operating System (OS), includes previous updates delivered over Windows Update as well as continuing incremental updates to the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 platforms based on customer and partner feedback, and is easy for organizations to deploy a single set of updates.
You need to uninstall the SP1 beta before installing the Release Candidate. Follow our how to uninstall Windows 7 SP1 beta guide to uninstall the same.
